Wow, after an amazing Kente Fashion show, I am astonished at the wonderful creations of the fashion designers at the annual Kente Festival at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam. Many fashion designers sh
owed their idea of how you can wear kente at your best and in your unique way. The designer that caught my eye most was Edith Konadu-Yiadom. She is a a student at the Amsterdam Fashion institute and Miss Face of Ghana Holland 2009's first runner-up.
The Kente Festival is an annual celebration of Ghana's culture and traditional wear. Everyone comes in their best Kente outfit. The person with the best clothing is crowned Mrs and Mr. Kente. Not to forget, music performances by various Ghanaian artists. The cultural event is all about celebrating Kente and its history and it is visited by hundreds of people every year. I love it when Africans celebrate their own culture, for non-Africans to see.
