Under the mag: The Arise Fashion week

The Arise Fashion week is taking place in Lagos, Nigeria. This magazine is doing a great job exhibiting the work of various fashion designers on their runway. Reports are coming in on their page and the designs are really looking promising for African fashion as a whole. Viewing all the collections of the different designers collectively makes you realize: Africa fashion is booming and damn, we’re fabulous. Below are some takes from the last few days.

Day 1 of the fashion week showed collections of African fashion designers, such as Loza MalémbhoLaQuan Smith, Iman Ayissi and more. The one which really caught our attentions most is Kola Kuddus. Kola Kuddus showed menswear. The part which was most interesting is that the collection showed a combination of traditional male’s suits and proper African blouses and hats. It makes a man look even sexier.
Loza Malémbho took a risk which was positively surprising by using Islamic head scarf. As in, the way Islamic women wear their scarf. He took that look and created collections which women would probably wear who wear no head scarf. The color combination of deep brown, yellow and sky blue is also worth shouting about.
LaQuan Smith also showed a striking collection by using a quiet futuristic look. I don’t think I should say anymore. Other striking collections of the following designers were: House of FarrahChristie BrownPhunkafriqueMadam Wokie and Lanre Da Silva Ajayi.
