Chai! Women and our dry lips.

There isn’t anything as bad as trying to survive a cold winter with dry lips. The feeling of dry, hard and rough lips against a cold wind blowing in your face is horrible and definitely no good feeling at all. All bodies and skin is different of course, but the traditional pot of Vaseline doesn’t work for everybody. What is woman to do when she is in this situation? After all, lips are supposed to be moisturized and kept good at all times, right? Just a little advice on how to keep your body right.

Real Talk: Help us and our eyebrows!

The good Lord Almighty blessed every person with eyebrows. Some have them thick and some have them thin, yet our eyebrows are created for a good reason. They are probably one of the most important features on the face. However some women fail to shape them like terror landed their faces or they got drawn on by the worst artist in the world. Especially we African women. Many are lost. Then comes the following question: Which shape of eyebrows are best? I found a trick which can help our women in need.

Definately hot: Lips on colour Dark!

Just when the fury red lip is no longer a taboo, but a fashion do, there is another trend on make-up that has changed with the season. That is the dark lip. I saw it on African-American shoe designer Vanessa Simmons, who rocked the purple dark lip with a fab look. And to bring some shock value to what you think is hot: bright lip is fantastic, but dark lip is hot for this season.

Of course Mac has a high range of colours, but buying a dark coloured pencil will also do the magic. The dark skin lip looks good on the dark and the light skinned ladies. Give it a try!

It's all in the Bright lips

Besides the bright colours which have become such a fashion in clothing this year, bright coloured make-up has also become the hottest thing around. Lips as white as fire are no more a whorish thing, but rather classy once it is applied well. A MAC make-up artist tried a fury purple colour on me and I was sold. No need to buy each fury colour. With the right pencil, you can make your colour dark or rather fury as possible.

The African Community and skin bleach

It is a well-known topic: Women who undergo dramatic treatments to fit standards that people regard as ideal. This ideal image is no other than the: the lighter the skin tone, the more beautiful. This may seem ridiculous to some, but for others it’s a well known issue within their communities.

Helping yourself cosmetically is no harmful thing. But things can get to the extreme: It’s what I call skin bleach. In the African community I have sensed that being the light skinned woman is regarded as the ideal skin color. The origin of this mindset comes from the time of slavery, whereby the white color stood for power, wealth and favor. This image has still not seemed to have left our minds. That is why; I think some of us desire to look more as white people do. This issue can turn into an endless discussion.

I Love the Brown skin that I am In

It might not have been directly said over the years, but it’s the truth about our mentalities, especially within the African communities. The more fair coloured a woman is, the more she is regarded as beautiful. This is not an issue that is only present within the African communities, but also in the Chinese and Indian communities. This perfect image of light skinned being ideal seems to be fading away. Women of different colour seem to be appreciated more, but not completely. This month’s issue will be about the ideal picture that we have and what we say of ourselves as women.

Dark coloured men are often adored, regarded as sex-symbols. But it seems as if the dark coloured women are less attractive in the eyes of the public. What is your perfect picture? Have you always been using skin bleach cream and wanting to look fairer than you are? This month: women who have been destroying themselves by using this bad perfect picture and women who absolutely love the brown skin that they are in.

Definately Hot: Metallic!

Last summer, it was all about having a bright coloured coat on your nails. In a fall/winter season we are more likely to apply dark-coloured nail polish, like black, grey and dark-brown. But this season, the nail polish trend is going metallic. Metallic all the way. But how do they get their
nails that shiny?

I first noted this fantastic mirror-looking coat in the movie Sex and the City 2. Kim Catrall, as Amanda matched a gold metallic nail polish with a cute white outfit. More and more celebrities are following this and it is likely to become a trend. Sex and the City stylist, Patricia Field did a fantastic job on this one, because I am loving it.

Definately Hot!

Bright colours

O.P.I has added new colors to their Brights collection. And bright nail polish is what's hot this summer. The colours of the Brights collection are bold and divers. And you only need 1 coat to get the brightened look.

Coat your nails with a vibrate green colour and it looks cute. If green is too daring, try red or purple. Red or Purple are less daring than green or yellow. The advantage of O.P.I
