The first Miss Africa Netherlands

There is a new beauty pageant on the agenda, and this time it’s the very first Miss Africa Netherlands. 10 equally bold and beautiful contestants originated from various African countries, residing in the Netherlands, are in the running of becoming The Miss Africa Netherlands 2011.  The Grand finale, which will take place on Saturday the 3^rd of December, has a promising programme. After all the rehearsals, hard work, photo shoots and various interviews, the results will show on that very day.  Do you want to know which beautiful women are in the running? Let’s find out. 

Born to Excel: Miss Excellence finalists revealed

Finally the Miss Excellence(miss Excel) Finalists have been made known! 14 Equally bold and beautiful contestants of African, Afro-Caribbean and/or Latin descent are in the running of becoming the Miss Excel Netherlands 2011. On the 24^th of September was the official Kick-off, wherein the ladies were prepared for the 5-week workshop whereby they will be prepared for the Grand finale which will take place on the 17^th of December 2011 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Take a peak.

He can get it: African actor Idris Elba can sing

Remember our previous chocolate sensation Idris Elba? Of course you do, he’s the sexy chocolate half Ghanaian actor from Britain. Well, this sexy African man is hitting singing notes now too, with his video called: Private garden, produced by 9th Garden.

Abina was aware that he is a DJ, but this guy can sing too. The Words of his song makes my heart melt.

Under the mag: Born to Excel

We are all familiar with pageants: the pretty young women with the ultra white and bright smile, the perfect features and the excessive perfect world-peace-ambitions. Not this one. The Miss Excel beauty pageant is actually a beauty pageant built to empower colored women in the Netherlands. No excessiveness, but actual positivity for the woman of color. The Grand finale takes place on the 17th of December in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, whereby 12 young women of color will compete to win the coveted crown of Miss Excel. This is something to look out for.

Chocolate Sensation: Idris Elba

It has been a while since Abina posted anything. For this reason we are starting off this season with a new chocolate sensation. This season’s chocolate sensation is Idris Elba. The now 38 year old actor and DJ is so sexy and such a success in his profession that I have to dedicate a post to him.

ONE8 consists of R.Kelly, 2Face(Nigeria), Alikibia (Tanzania), Fally Ipupa(DRC), 4X4 (Ghana), JK(Zambia), Navio(Uganda), Movaizhalene(Gabon), Amani(Kenya). Yup, R.Kelly is at it again. This man knows how to make a song touch a heart.

MTV Africa Music Awards 2010

MTV has made it known: MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) will take place in Lagos Nigeria, on 11 December 2010. This annual celebration of African music and culture will take place in the EKO, Expo hall. The most outstanding musicians from Sub-Saharan Africa and from the rest of the world will perform this day. This is another platform whereby Africa is celebrated. This is something we should not miss!

This year, the selected African artists are nominated over 12 categories. The nominies are made known and it seems as Nigeria has 13 nominations: P-square, Wande Coal, D-Banj, just to name a few. This is not surprising, considering how Nigeria is taking the music industry by storm. Artists like Fally Ipupa(Congo Republic), Daddy owen(Kenya), also seem to have a great chance in winning a MAMA-trophy.

October Chocloate Sensation

Michelle Williams showed up to the Mobo Awards with a nice surprise. This surprise is called Ricky Whitlle. I am sure he is mixed raced, but Google keep telling me he is British. Let’s call him British for now and crown him to Chocolate Sensation of this month.

Kelly Price is Back!

You can not forget the big woman with the incredible R&B sound, alongside now known as P. Diddy and Mase in the song called 'Mo money, mo problems'. It has been a while since we have watched Kelly Price in the R&B scene, but she is BACK! And I'm loving it.

Kelly Price is one of the R&B artists who can really sing. Her songs are real and her sound is one of a kind. This is not Rihanna and Lady Gaga ish. This is real music and it is straight from the heart. If you also love her songs ‘why’, ‘He proposed’, ‘As we lay’, then you will also love her new track called: ‘tired’. The song ‘tired’ can be described as a straight-from-the-heart song, with a church feel and R&B sound.

Monica's new album hit the stores!!

Monica is one of the best recording artists, in my opinion. She is one of the artists that sings from the heart. Since I watched her show on BET: 'Still standing', I couldn't wait till the album hit the stores. Now it has. Monica's new album : Still Standing, baby!

Model City, starring the male models from Red Model Management NYC, is a TV Reality show which is all about the life of mainly black male models. You have the chance of following them to every go-see, photoshoot, casting and more. To make it as a male model of ethnic background is hard, but they use their modelling potential the best way and make it as models any way.

Model City is the absolute perfect Tv show and good for the eye of every chocolatecolored-loving woman. I watched the show on BET for the first time, and my attention was undivided! One word: HOT!

At the moment, I don't know where to watch full episodes online. But I'll be sure to let you know, once I do.
