March's Chocolate sensation

Abina has held back on the Chocolate Sensations, but it’s time for another one. This month’s Chocolate sensation is Oraine Barrett.

Quiet a different type of look and a scar on his face. This Jamaican model has landed major campaigns, such as Abercrombie and Fitch, Raulph Lauren and more. Oraine Barett is unstoppable. He is one of the most sought after male models in the world. He has got the goods to have me look for more of him.

December Chocolate sensation

The year 2010 has almost come to an end, but this doesn’t bring an end to our wonderful taste of men. This month’s chocolate sensation is Willy Monfret. This model from France is half French and half Guadolopean. Ladies are blown away by his green-blue eyes and sexy body. You may know him from Nicki Minaj’s Right thru me video and he is HOT.

I know he’s not precisely chocolate, but enough to make me say: He’s hot. He got chocolate sisters drawling

Under the mag: Swahili fashion Week

Swahili Fashion Week makes me wonder what is behind that name. This event caught my attention and I didn’t hesitate to let you know. The Swahili fashion week, this year on the 4th -6th November, is regarded as the platform for designers from Swahili speaking countries. This fashion week is a combination of expressing creativity in fashion and accessories, Swahili cuisine, arts & crafts, music performance, entertainment and more. This year, many designers from East Africa gathered to make this event a successful one in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

Many designers showed their fined creativity at the event. Chichia London, Koroo and Asia Idarous are a few of the designers that participated in the Swahili Fashion Week. Abina is familiar with Chichia London, her style and designs.

I love the distinctive style of East Africa. Compared to the Central and West African style, they use more dark colors in their designs.

October Chocloate Sensation

Michelle Williams showed up to the Mobo Awards with a nice surprise. This surprise is called Ricky Whitlle. I am sure he is mixed raced, but Google keep telling me he is British. Let’s call him British for now and crown him to Chocolate Sensation of this month.

Celebrate Africa!

A Black Model on the cover of Glamour magazine, FINALLY!

Finally, a black woman is on the cover of Glamour Magazine, the Netherlands. It has probably taken more than 50 issues, before a woman of colour made it to the front page of a no 1 selling fashion magazine.

I took the initiative to send Glamour Magazine, the Netherlands a letter, whereby I made a complaint against the fact that they never put a black woman on their cover. I got a respond from the editor-in-chief. She let me know not to worry. Since then, they dedicate one page to women of colour, with the worst cosmetics tips. They didn't get my point. The point that I was trying to make is that it is time for the Netherlands to embrace diversity in colour and culture. the United Kingdom has no problem doing this in their publishing, but the Netherlands do.

I won't complain though. They put supermodel Alek Wek on the Cover and she looks great. Let's make sure that this is not a one time event, but that it will happen frequently.

Model thin is TOO thin

Let’s be real, model thin is too thin. The sight of skinny, gap-in-between-legs kind of women is way too thin. But this is the image which has been portrayed in World fashion over the years with the public accepting this. This image is regarded as perfect and it brings cash. And it is sad, cause 7 out of 10 models aren’t healthy. And now, at last, it seems that a few fashion designers are starting to realize that this picture can’t be painted any longer, cause its is time to be real. And switch to the more athletic body. It seems like the fashion industry has had an epiphany!

Another French Vogue Cover with a Black model on it!

I celebrate another black model on the cover of French Vogue: Rose Cordero. The Puerto Rican model had succeeded by covering the front page and a six page spread! We all know how the French fashion industry is.

The style of the pictures is 'Spanish military with corsetry and function of the belt' influenced. Definatley hot this spring! C'est tres beau!

Rose Codero has worked for Max Mara, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton and more. Rose Codero is, apart from supermodel Chanel Iman, definately someone to keep an eye on.

BET Presents: Model City

Model City, starring the male models from Red Model Management NYC, is a TV Reality show which is all about the life of mainly black male models. You have the chance of following them to every go-see, photoshoot, casting and more. To make it as a male model of ethnic background is hard, but they use their modelling potential the best way and make it as models any way.

Model City is the absolute perfect Tv show and good for the eye of every chocolatecolored-loving woman. I watched the show on BET for the first time, and my attention was undivided! One word: HOT!

At the moment, I don't know where to watch full episodes online. But I'll be sure to let you know, once I do.
